Carmine Feed & Fertilizer is a local, family-owned business serving customers across multiple counties in central Texas. We operate two feed store locations in Giddings and Carmine as well as a fertilizer blending plant in Carmine and a fleet of delivery and spreader trucks. We're currently preparing to open a third store--which will be called Giddings Nursery & Garden Center--across the street from our Giddings feed store. We fully expect this nursery to become the premier Lee County destination for live plants, lawn and garden supplies, and bulk landscaping materials.
Although we have wonderful staff working our current store's garden department, we're looking for a qualified Nursery Manager to oversee daily operations at the new Giddings Nursery & Garden Center. This will be a full-time, hourly role with fluctuating daily duties and a work schedule that revolves around spring and fall planting seasons. It’s ideal for someone with a well-rounded set of management skills and leadership qualities who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty and have a lot of fun in a high-energy outdoors setting.

Strong people skills, including the ability to respectfully handle difficult customers and/or defuse occasional disagreements between coworkers.
A propensity to lead by example and work alongside employees to get the job done.

Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and juggle multiple responsibilities, as necessary, to promptly serve waiting customers.
Flexible, consistent availability during daytime store hours, with a willingness to work plenty of overtime as needed during our busiest seasons. (Overtime hours are paid at time-and-a-half.) The exact hours for Giddings Nursery & Garden Center have not yet been set, but we are anticipating being open on the weekends and possibly 7 days a week. The manager will not necessarily be expected to be there all day, every day. However, we need someone who is prepared to work whenever he or she must to ensure that all the bases are covered (an average of 50-60 hours weekly is likely).
Good physical fitness, including the ability to engage in prolonged heavy lifting (50-80 lbs).
